Politicians will “legislate sin”

August 28th, 2006 | 3 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris told a religious journal that separation of church and state is “a lie” and God and the nation’s founding fathers did not intend the country be “a nation of secular laws.”The Republican candidate for U.S. Senate also said that if Christians are not elected, politicians will “legislate sin,” including abortion and gay marriage.

Euros to Gyros

August 23rd, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Class was great today.  My sociology and French classes really made my day, how wonderful is that?  I also had the day off of work, that probably contributed to the stress-free day.

After class, and being four minutes late to my meter, resulting in a $5.00 ticket (bah!), I headed to World Harvest.  This place is kinda like World Market but much smaller, and the people there actually know the products they are selling.

I bought everything I would need to make my own Gyros.  I made my own tzatziki sauce with authentic sheep yoghurt, dill, garlic, vinegar and olive oil.  Some tarragon, mint and basil for good measure.  Anyways, mixed this up, grilled some lamb, sliced up lettuce with my new lettuce knife, some tomatoe and cucumber… the end result was ansolutely fantastic and the low carb (7 carbs!) wrap surprisingly soft and fulfilling.  I washed it down with a diet Red Bull and all was well with the world.

I got in a very short workout today, didn’t do all my readings so I’m going to bed now, at 10:00 pm, so I can get up in the morning, hop on the bus and read before class.  The bus totally didn’t come today on at least the first round, boo to that!  But driving to campus and parking wasn’t that bad, except for the ticket!  I totally didn’t deserve it, I mean, come on!  I paid for the entire day except four minutes that I was late from class to my car.  Boo to that.  I did bump into Geoff in Brady, we shared a pleasant breakfast and good conversation.

Alright, time for sleep.

Oh!  Wait!  The Euro part of my Gyro and Euro title.  Landon called me from London… hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  It was sure nice to talk to him.

Weather or Not

August 22nd, 2006 | 2 Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

I think I have used this post title before? And for the same reason, it seems that the weather here is drying out and cooling off. This morning I enjoyed an early morning walk through campus at 64 degrees. It had been twenty degrees hotter this summer!

I only have two classes today, but between class I have work, until like 6:30 tonight. I think I might like the split schedule thing, I just hope I have time enough to run to my classes and such. It shouldn’t be much trouble really.

Facebook.com now let’s you subscribe to your blog through their site, allowing a blog on there that you don’t have to keep only there. Myspace allows blogs but you can’t subscribe to an RSS/Atom feed and thus it is stuck only on Myspace. Why they didn’t impliment the most popular blog and news feature, I don’t know. It is owned by News Corp for goodness sake.

My math class is such a bore. Shame I have to have it for graduation. I actually acquired a headache during class, a real deal, splitting headache. Still got the beast, maybe before work I will run downstairs and get some Advil or something… boo.

The mathematics department here seems to have found it necessary to switch from Texas Instruments to Casio! How rediculous. They say it is because the Casio models are cheaper, but we all already have TI calculators. I have a TI-82, 83, 83 Plus, 83 Plus Silver Edition, and 85 Plus not to mention the others laying around in boxes on the top shelf of my closet. Silly Mizzou.

I woke up for my 8am class at 5:45! Is that stupid? I just figured that parking would be a bitch and left my house at 7:00, got parking behind Starbucks, yes!

The university thought I had gotten a great ol’ grade in my French class two years ago. Funny cause I totally dropped out when I got pneumonia. The teacher I guess accidentally put in my grade instead of a withdrawl because the school had me enrolled into French 2. I had to deal with convincing them I wanted, needed, to take French 1 (again?) haha. Luckily I got the single open spot in the class at the same time of the prior class so there was no issue with having to change other classes, yay!

The only class I am really excited about is my sociology class. I love psychology and sociology and anthropology, too bad my anthro class was too full. :(

Well, I have work in an hour and I should probably figure out what I’m going to do about a lunch today. I doubt my shredded wheat from this morning will last until 6:00pm.

Yesterday I enjoyed two pears, two mangos, one banana, 1 pint of strawberries, half a pint of blue berries, some raspberries and some plums. For dinner a roast beef sandwich plus lunch was sushi from Brady. I felt pretty good abotu taht for the day, quite tastey and all that fruit was fabulous. I am seriously going crazy over my juicer haha.

Ok, I’m going to head out for reals.

Juice Time!

I’m sitting in the living room, about to go to sleep, gotta get a post out first though, love this Writely thing… No seriously though, it will allow me to post to my blog from anywhere (nothing new) and have it aved as a hard format I can easily transport later, as well as posing it to the MySQL server my site reads from. How wonderful? Oh, and the logo at the top was created by Alex P’s Web2.0 Logo Creator.

Our television is tuned to our DVR on which I recorded a Keane concert from Chicago off of the HDNet channel. Imagine listening to Keane with fabulous speakers and seeing it sparkle on a 42inch plasma high definition channel! It is incredible.

Landon flew out today for London and then to Poland. I cried at the idea that we would not talk to each other before he flew out, things weren’t working in our favor, but finally today we caught each other right before he boarded the plane. It is in times like these that you are able to see fully how much you care for a person.

In other news, I picked up that Juiceman Juicer right? Today I consumed, drum roll please?

4 plums
3 oranges
2 bananas
8 carrots
2 apples
6 raspberries

I also had four poached eggs (two for breakfast, two for dinner) on whole wheat english muffins (two total) with ham and turkey slices I roasted in the oven on the muffins. Incredible. So simple and yet so wonderfully fulfilling. I want to add some asiago cheese to mix, Gerbes disappointed. I had a turkey sandwich on wheat for lunch.

I feel so much better with this new diet plan, I don’t feel gross after eating and I seem to get full more quickly and the feeling lasts so much longer.

Work was short, I was scheduled to close, but also to open the next day. I also have class tomorrow! Ahhhhhhhhh! I’m so excited and yet, so frightened of this school year. I need to figure otu how much I can work and still be successful in my studies. This semester, I hope to open myself up to more people, make some new friends, expand my connections, have a wonderfully large network, as I used to enjoy. There are of course the regulars who will never fall far from me, too much love for these people to ever be forgotten or replaced. They know who they are.

I was supposed to go see a movie with a friend today, Snakes on a Plane (SOAP). Sadly, he didn’t call me. No biggie, I really just wanted to hang out, he seemed down. Perhaps tomorrow night we can do something simple and pleasing.

I suppose I should get to sleep, I do have work at 4:45 and then class from 8:00 and until 2:00. Wish me luck on this new school year.

Landon, fly safely. I love you.

Getting Healthy(er)

August 20th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

I have found myself freaking out recently about my health, body, image and etc.  I have always had a thing about trying to be thinner, more in shape, cleaner, smarter and funnier.  I have made some inroads.

Health?  Well, I have stopped eating anything I can’t make at home.  Phosophomaltodexitrinextodextoescent ingredients are avoided as phosophomaltodexitrinextodextolake5escent foods should be avoided.  Not going the “organic” way really, but going as whole as I can on a budget and without going all crazy.  It just feels better to know what you are consuming, to know that things weren’t added to my food that I can’t pronounce.  Why all the preservatives if I’m going to eat it so soon?  My strawberries molded in two days.  I was happy!  haha, they shouldn’t last so long.

I’m working out more, and working on making myself more diligent on working out more.  I want to be in great shape with a body that makes me jealous of my future boyfriend for getting to see my body… haha, not really but you know what I mean :)

Going to go through my massive (uh, it is a bit embarrassing) wardrobe and clean out what I don’t need or want and start a bit fresh.  Nothing too drastic.  I got my haircut (she cut it too short but hair grows) and my eyebrows done up nice (hehe).  I have taken to treating myself to a long bath, like 30 minutes to an hour in length; candles, incense, music, it’s a good thing.

One thing I am totally digging right now is Hellogoodbye.  BUY this cd!

I bought a Juiceman (Jr) Juicer today at Wal-Mart for only like $35!  It is incredible.  I had three plums before work today and tonight I juiced four plums, three oranges and two bananas which I will devour for breakfast tomorrow with some whey protein.

I only drink tea or water at work, no more of the sugary stuff.

I have even been getting more sleep!  Ironic that I type that at 2:31 in the morning with no sleep in sight, for a bit at least.

Saving money is key right now too.  I have new plans for it.

I have been working at memorizing everything I see and hear.  I want to be able to see something and describe it later “to the t”.  I have gotten pretty good so far; skimmed a Missourian article and memorized all the details, from dates and names to places and quotes.  Geoff just laughed it off haha, as I recited parts of the Classified section to him over “noncoffee coffee time”.  Lahved it haha.

I’m tired of drunk ppl, and school has only just begun!  That’s no good haha.  Or rather, it is good for me, but annoying when so many people around you are drunk.  Boooooo.

Well, I’m going to try and get some sleep, Hellogoodbye just finished playing and I hope to get into a doctor tomorrow for my bum eye.  Also hope to see Snakes on a Plane with a friend (Justin C.).

Love you all, miss you all.

p.s. to the keeper of Max (the monkey), I love you.

Google has done and amazing thing, again. Welcome to Writely. I do believe that this entire semester will be Microsoft free.

Writely will be my WORD
Google’s Spreadsheet will be my EXCEL
Thunderbird will be my OUTLOOK
Firefox will be my INTERNET EXPLORER
Impress will be my POWERPOINT
Base will be my ACCESS
Google Calendar will be my OUTLOOK (calendar)

What else could I possibly need?

Writely is even better than I had hoped.

I’m in love.

Are You Freaking Serious?!

Um, so Microsoft is doing so poorly that now they are asking for donations… Wait, what?  Isn’t Bill Gates the richest man in the world?

This is what I saw after updating their latest Paint.net software.  Which is effective but painfully slow.

Dating Woes Follow Up

August 16th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Uncategorized

I got a message from the “cute, funny and a blast to hang out with” guy I was seeing. We seemed to go onto the rocks about two weeks ago for reasons I still don’t really know. But maybe now I have a better idea?
I feel I should apologize. I was probably too hard on him in my post, I never meant to evoke that he was a player or cheating or anything in that arena. He is too nice of a person, too honest and kind, I feel, to ever do that to another person. I should have given him the benefit of the doubt and I apologize for not giving him what I would have expected for me.

Perhaps life really was that busy and stressful for him in those weeks. I can find sympathy as I find myself right now running around campus getting financial aid, getting classes, getting schedules, re-working schedules, working and trying to better myself emotionally, physically and socially.

Life isn’t easy.

I chatted with Jim last night about the feeling you get when someone really matters to you. Each embrace is like the first time, each kiss as scary and rewarding as in the beginning, every touch is unique and comforting. You only get that when both people allow it to occur. I felt I had it with him which is why the sudden disconnect was so rough for me.

I wouldn’t want anyone to think anything ill of this great guy. As I wrote before, I would never allow myself to date someone I felt would intentionally hurt me. He, I feel now in full consciousness, would never do that to me.

I’m very sorry for my implications, the ramblings of a tired, stressed guy in the dumps. I hope you read this and can forgive me, move along and maybe when the time is right, we can bake cookies again, or watch a scary movie, maybe even go antiquing… wow, we sound like bores don’t we?! hehe

Well, I’ve been running around since 8am, I need to get some sleep before work in an hour.

And once again, I was wrong and I whole heartily apologize. I wish I could do as Cher and turn back time. I guess I Just needed to get something off my chest, for better or worse. The post did compliment you a good deal hehe.

-justin

P.S.  To compare this guy to Landon, Seth, Geoffrey or Jim is to compliment him.  These prior mentioned guys are my beacons of love and friendship in life.
