Apple’s 802.11n Enabler

January 31st, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

You have probably read that a whole slew of new Apple desktops and laptops have secretly been shipped with the new wireless format, 802.11N. The scandal comes in that Apple is charging to enable that option because of an accounting issue. Apple released the update and I tried to install. However, this is what I got.

80211n Enabler Error

I got on the phone with AppleCare. Thirty minutes passed and the guy couldn’t do a damned thing. Seriously, a total dunce. I figured out the problem myself and fixed it in the last of our “3-4 minutes” of being on hold. Now it says 802.11 a/b/g/n instead of 802.11 g.

80211n Enabler Success

Yay for me being smarter than AppleCare.  If you have an Intel Core Duo or Core  2 Duo, go ahead and download the file here.

7… -10 degrees

I was actually beginning to cry while walking to class in this.

What the Fuck Weather is This?

January 28th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Two days ago, it was fifty plus degrees and the ice was melting so quickly that the storm drains were over flowing.  I have proof!

Now?

All we have is 15 degree weather with a windchill of 5 degrees and a low of 12.  This is absolutely mindless weather.  How can the temp drop 40 degrees in two days… in ONE day.

Next time we will know better than to vote Republican.  See what they have done?

The Menu

Made this for dinner tonight, penne and italian sausage & white wine cream sauce

1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium thin sliced onion
3 garlic cloves minced
1lb sweet Italian sausage
2/3 cup dry white wine
1 can diced peeled tomatoes
1 cup whipping creme
1 lb penne
1 cup parmesan cheese

melt butter with olive oil, add onion and garlic, saute until golden brown.  add sausage (break up), cook, drain fat and oil.  Add wine, cook two minutes.  add tomatoes, cook three minutes.  add creme, cook for five minutes.  remove from heat.

cook pasta, pour sauce over pasta.  add 3/4 of parmesan sprinkle with remaining.

For desert I made Creme Brulee

2 cups whipping cream
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons chopped peeled fresh ginger
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
5 large egg yolks
12 teaspoons sugar

Preheat oven to 325°F.   Mix cream, sugar and ginger in heavy medium saucepan. Using small sharp knife, scrape seeds from vanilla bean into sauce.  Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to simmer. Cover pan, reduce heat to very low. Strain into large measuring cup.

Whisk yolks in medium bowl until well blended. Gradually whisk in hot cream mixture just to blend. Divide among dishes. Pour enough hot water into pans to come halfway up sides of dishes.

Bake custards until almost set in center when pans are gently shaken, about 30 minutes.

Sprinkle 2 teaspoons sugar evenly over each custard, direct flame so that sugar melts and browns.

The One that Got Away

Last night was quite, QUITE the night. I had a complete blast hanging out with Mizzou Forte for our A-Ca-Power-Hour though I was not there to say one way other another if it happened. I had to take care of some chores.

I got my apartment to the state of clean that I find most comfortable. When you start out with a really clean apartment, bedroom, closet and bathroom, it is so easy to keep it all clean.

It is amazing how much living in a clean apartment makes you enjoy your time at home.

The picture over there (up, left) is of one of the new girls in MF. She has a great voice and a fiery, fantastic attitude.

I got this pic of her just as she was turning, if only my shutter was a bit faster, I think this picture would have been super fabulous. She has that look.

I really just loved Shannon’s dinning room. But you all know how I get wet over organization. haha. Seriously, how cute is this room? Simple, Target-ish and clean. Loves it.

Prior to MF I hung out with Chadd at the Berg with some of his friends. It was such a great time. I really enjoy hanging out with these people. We tried to watch Pan’s Labirynth but we were both pretty tired.

I packed a lot of stuff into yesterday. Today I have class for only one hour and then work from 5:00pm and until 1:00am. Oh wow.

Signs of Spring

January 26th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

I am enjoying my classes so far this semest, all but one, my Econ 1014.  I am certain it will be the death of me.  I emailed my advisor today to discuss withdrawing from the class and working for another semester with another professor; if it is even required for my graduation.  The prof that I have right now is all about being a bitch.  She is plain evil as far as I can tell.

I was walking out of my French class today when I saw a robin.  Yes, a red-breasted robin!  You know what that means… Spring is near!

And then… then I saw four geese a gaggling!
