You’re Frozen, When Your Door Won’t Open

January 23rd, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Uncategorized

Silly me.

I was so tired of seeing my car a total mess with all the salt, snow, slush, ice, ash, dirt and gunk flying around this time of the year; a car can get pretty nasty looking.

Last night I broke down and decided to get my car washed, at 10:45 in the night.  I got to the Tiger Wash Plaza, the nicest self/auto car wash facility I have ever patronized, put in my credit card for the Tiger Gold wash.  It does the works, underbody wash, double panel wash, tri-foam soak, high pressure wash, higher pressure rinse, wax mist and spot free rinse with a nice little hot air dry.

Car looked great, especially considering the way it had looked just minutes before.  My gold-hinted silver car looked gun metal gray drenched in black leopard spots.  Yuck!

All was well until this morning.  I tried putting my key into the keyhole, it wouldn’t go.  After some jamming and jiggling, I got it in there, but turning was not going to happen.  I just knew that one of the people I had towed out of my parking spot in the days before had super glued my locks.

I managed to get over by unlocking the passenger door, which took some work and still didn’t open after being unlocked.  However, the back passenger door opened with a little effort.  I climbed across the seats, wow, I need to clean that thing up a bit huh… and made it to the driver’s seat.

I still could not even manually unlock the car from inside, I could not open the door at all which brought me to thinking… washing your car in 34*F weather, followed by an 18*F night and a 21*F morning, not the best idea.

By the time I got to campus my car was nearly out of gas, just beginning to get warm and the front driver’s door was finally coaxed open.

I want a new car.

Life Continues

I need to write a real entry in here huh?  Well, life is good, things are going smoothly.  It is going to be a rough semester but I shall trudge on.

Absolutely Frigid

It is far too cold outside.

Even the grass agrees with me.

Johnnys’ Beanery

January 17th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

I meant to write about this the other day but got distracted with school starting up. And the beautiful, albeit super cold, weather.

A friend of mine, Corey, went with me to Johnnys’ Beanery last Sunday. We had a great time, our usual fun conversation and we bumped into a fraternity brother and a few other friends. Good times and AMAZING, cheap hamburgers. We plan on doing it again this sunday, I plan on doing it every Sunday haha.

Tonight was another Acacia event at Buffalo Wild Wings. I had food there for the very first time. While it took a little too long to get it, the taste was right on. And the waitress? Wow, she was beautiful!

C2H6O Ruins Some

January 17th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

I lay witness C2H6O makes people into jerks. Some people are funny and nice and then some make loud drunk dials and get mad at you for reasons you can’t understand. I have an 8am class but I can’t fall asleep because of it. Ugh. Please go to your room and talk all you like. I feel like if I say anything, he will just get even more upset with me. It’s a sucky situation but time heals all, they say.

MU Bookstore Calls Some Losers

January 15th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

On the front page of the University of Missouri’s Bookstore site sits this image.

loser2_c2.jpg

What is interesting enough about this picture for me to make a post?  First off, it is reminding us to come return for classes, that we are paying far too much to ignore.  Secondly, what’s up with the all caps?  If you are going to cap everything and then forget to cap the “to” twice, forget to cap the “Be”, “For” and “The”. Keep it consistent with at least one main rule, if you are going to break all the others.

Mostly though, what bothers me about this image is its title.  “loser2_c2.jpg” (c1 and c3 as well)

They named a picture/advert about coming back to school “loser”.  As if those not returning are losers.  Wow.

Work = Lively as Garold Ford

A combination of winter break and an ice storm made work about two steps from hell. It was completely dead! I think we had nine people in a four hour period. Luckily I was working with Shannon, we made the time pass. I made some really fun, delicious and beautiful drinks.

This is a pretty good representation of our morning… Look at all of the customers!

DSC_1457.JPGMy favorite drink made today was this guy.

It is a geometric flower with butterflies. I’m thinking of some other really cool ideas right now… yummmm!

And speaking of delicious, I should do the food photography for Starbucks. I sure made this look delicious!

And, even though I was released from work duties about an hour early, I waited to drive Shannon home. What a nice guy I am!

Look at this ice! How cool is that? I’m telling you, the ice this time around is craziness!

After that one, and before this one, I totally wiped out. The Styrofoam snow ice… snice? became a slip and slide. I managed to save the camera, though I’m pretty sure I broke my ass.

Our fabulous pool is once again, a skating rink. Or a giant frozen amoeba.

This little tree reminded me of Charlie Brown.

Basketball Court Ice Rink

January 13th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Uncategorized

This snow business is pretty weird.  It’s like walking on Styrofoam, and if you jump up and down, you can feel it shift below you… but it doesn’t really crack, it just kind of floats over a layer of water or ice, I’m not really sure.

It is really cool though, I pretty much love it.

Driving home tonight, I almost flew off a cliff.  Silly me, I took Rock Quarry home, quite the curvy road.  Not a whole lotta fun, but just before flying off the edge and meeting my maker… I was greeted by the headlights of an old Ford pickup, say an F250 from the early 1990’s.

A quick pump of the breaks and then a bit of acceleration and… I just missed both of my destinies.  Lucky me huh?

Got home though, saw the basketball court and though, wow.  So here you go!

The Trip from Starbucks

January 13th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Uncategorized

Opened Starbucks today, the snow wasn’t nearly as bad as I had expected.  I basically just got a ton of pictures of really cute squirrels.
