Apple Wireless Keyboard

October 16th, 2007 | 1 Comment | Posted in Just My Nerdiness

I just need to make an entire post about this new keyboard, I love it so much.  I really just can’t handle it, the thing is so awesome!  Kinda feel like a dork over this but damn girl, this thing is fine!

So the wireless edition has no numeric pad on the far right… this is a bummer cause, well, you can’t do the whole ten key touch thing… but that’s ok seeing as I don’t really need it, not yet at least.  The keys are also a little hard to get used to, since there isn’t nearly any depth to each key, you can’t feel your way around the keyboard like you could with any other typical desktop keyboard.  The feel and layout is much like any Macbook or Macbook Pro keyboard you might have used except there is a greater distance between the keys themselves.  I have gotten used to the keyboard’s layout for the most part though I’m still having trouble with punctuation.

The top keys, aka the function keys, are much improved with little pictures telling you what each key does.  Those little icons are great cause no matter how many times I used those keys on my old Apple Wireless Keyboard, I could never memorize what each key did.  I’m just special I guess.

The thing is fucking tiny, that’s just something I can’t get over.  The brushed metal and the solid build are great.  Typical Apple quality here.  I love the thing and really only have a few little updates that they totally should have put on here.

How about a lighted keyboard like the Macbook Pro’s?  I just don’t get why they didn’t do that.  Also… how about a USB port to charge the batteries like a cellphone is charged on your USB port?  That would be super fantastic.  They totally could have put a numeric keypad on this…  How about a similarly designed mouse?  The new brushed iMacs look awesome with the new keyboards but still have those white mouses.

Typing on the new keyboard is so much faster and becomes easier once you get used to the layout.  It’s quiet and easier to keep clean.  It’s got brushed metal and it’s smaller than Mark McGwire’s testicals…

Awe, that’s Disappointing

October 16th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Nerdiness

So, I found out who sent the first mystery voicemail.  While I’m a little disappointed that it isn’t from some psycho gay boy… it gave me an idea.

I think I’m going to get a voicemail line and put the number all over the place, in random cities, with those stupid “for a good time call”… and just see what happens.  Could be fun huh?

In other news, I pre-ordered Mac OS X Leopard today.  Yay!

So Not Ok With That

October 15th, 2007 | 4 Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Rant

I got up today around… 8 am for my 10am Sunday graphic design class. Got outta class at around 12:30 and did some stuff around the house before going to work.

It was a quiet night in the emergency room, nothing too big, a few gun shot wounds, a few car accidents but no fatalities and nothing too bad. A good night if I can say so.

Around 10:00 I had a few minutes of free time and decided to check my voicemail. I had two new messages. The first one from 8:25 from “Private Caller”, the second from my brother.

I listened to the first call and immediately put my co-worker on the line with me. It was just too creepy.

At first I was like… why the hell would one of my co-workers give out my number?! Then I got kinda weirded out. The caller was using a private number and Starbucks is pretty good about not giving out numbers. And on top of that, he never really says how he got it. All my friends know I have a boyfriend and would not give out my number…

Then I played it Ryan, my boyfriend of course, and he thought that maybe it was a joke… That’s when I really started wondering about it, who would do this? How could I figure this one out?

So I get home, it’s about 1:15 in the morning and flashing on my answering machine is a new message. I never get new voicemails at home, no one uses that line except Ryan and my family.

Here’s what was waiting for me.

I can handle one freaky voicemail in a day, but two? This one is from someone named George Steinmetz, hard to understand what he is saying exactly but goes along the lines of… “Did you get those pictures I sent you? I don’t want anything just wanted to see if you got them. They are of my mother, your grandmother.”

I’m so not ok with any of this, just so we all know.

Barack Obama Does Religion Right!

October 14th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Just My Politics

In a speach before an Interfait forum in Des Moins Iowa, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois contended that the idea of seperation of church and state should not force American voters to “leave [their] religion at the door before entering the public square” arguing that “faith informs our values, and I think we’d all agree that our values inform our politics more than they have over the last six years”.

Obama pointed out the damages caused by religio-political machines such as Jerry Falwell “exploit what divides us” with agendas based soley on time socially divided issues such as abortion and gay marriage.

Jumping onto the recent Nobel Prize shared by Al Gore and UN Scientists, Obama pushed the bibically faithful to examine their doctrine’s regard to the earth, climate and our role in protecting what God gave us.

“The bible tells us that when God created the earth, he entrusted us with the responsibility to take care of that earth,” he said. “It is a responsibility to ensure that this planet remains clean and safe and livable for our children, and for all of God’s children.”

“Science has made it undeniably clear that our generation is not living up to this responsibility.”

An as an omage to the former vice president, Obama gave credit where it was due, “I think all of us give great thanks to him [Al Gore] for his extraordinary dedication, his extraordinary service, [and] his grace after a bitter defeat to rise up and actually transcend and do even more than one could have ever imagined to help highlight this issue.”

Well done. Absolutely the best mixing of religion in a political speach that didn’t austrosize anyone. Well, not me at anyways.

The Illustrator

October 13th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Just My Art, Just My Life, Just My Nerdiness

I have always wanted to be an artist… I try with photography, singing, writing etc etc… I am never really happy with my stuff.

Today I had an eight hour course in Photoshop CS3. Turns out I know everything about it… haha, well at least everything in the “intro” course. It was pretty elementary. I finished my work early and just surfed Bloglines and such.

Got home and wanted to do something cool… Here’s what I did.

I think it’s cute. But then I’m a simple person.

P.S. this post is TOTALLY dedicated to my friend Carmen who got loving little fishy drawings through the long lectures in our WGS course Tuesday and Thursday.

Need Ta…

October 7th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Rant

So I need to start doing some things…

  • study french for tuesday’s mid-term
  • study india gender class and cast for thursday’s mid-term
  • reconsider working so many jobs
  • get laundry done
  • setup a budget
  • remember that rent is due on the 1st not just some random time of the month…
  • move the car so you don’t get yet another ticket you’re not going to pay
  • reconsider iTunes are you largest monthly expense
  • put that money you took out of your saves, back
  • get some free time so you can start photography again

In no particular order except those first two…

I’m not too proud to say that I preordered the new Matchbox Twenty cd. I haven’t really listened to it so much yet, but I’m sure it’s pretty good. What’s really good, awesome actually, are all the music videos bundled with the purchase. I’m pretty sure I have all of their music videos, or at least all that matter. Say what you like about Rob Thomas and Matchbox Twenty; they made some great music videos. I’m watching them all as I type this. What a great thing, music videos on demand, thank you AppleTV.
