Wii Has Left the Building

April 30th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in Just My Fabulousness, Just My Life

Let it be known.  I am a loser.  I returned the Wii today.  Saved me $398 that will be better spent… erm, saved, on my photography needs.  That lens is sure looking sweet!

Plus, I have a photoshoot in Birmingham in a few weeks so having the tools necessary is more important than my 1600 level Wii Sports Tennis rating.  Yeah, that’s right.  In one hour and fifteen minutes scored 600 points over the “pro” level.

Watch out Serena Williams!  Oops, I mean Andy Roddick

Andy Like it on His Back

See what happened when he heard the news?!  He seems a little too eager to play real tennis with me.

MoveOn.DNC…

I absolutely hate spam.  Luckily Google catches most of it, almost all of it.  But what to do when the mail isn’t unsolicited?  Those annoying forwards from family members, for instance.  Or in my case, emails from the Democratic National Committee

Re: Devastating new Iraq ad

I get these emails from them at least once a week at most once a day and nearly every one of these messages start with “RE:” in the subject line.

“RE” technically means, “In regards to” but has come to mean, “In reply to”.  Slightly different wording meaning totally different things.  When you get an email which has “RE” in the subject line, you immediately demise that the email is a response to something you sent earlier.

Not when it’s from the DNC and they way they do this is deceitful and, well done pretty stupidly.

If you are going to fake something, at least do it right.  I finally got fed up with them and sent the email to the left.

Maybe I’m just bitchy but this kind of stuff really bothers me.

Incredible Opportunity

An almost unbelievable opportunity might have just fallen into my lap.  We are talking, life changing, dream come true opportunity.

Sadly, I am afraid to talk about it here, don’t want to jinx it.

Wii Want to Keep You

April 29th, 2008 | 9 Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Nerdiness

So a couple of days ago I went on a midnight Wal-Mart run for, of all things, potting soil for our garden.  I just happened to walk by the electronics department and lo and behold, what sits before me?  Two Nintendo Wiis!  This is pretty amazing considering that the average time a  Nintento Wii lasts on the shelf is only one hour.

Ten minutes later it was mine and the second one?  Sold to girl who was equally surprised to see one actually available to be purchased.

I got an extra controller, nuchuk, Super Maria Galaxy, WiiPlay and went home to set it all up.  Takes only a couple of minutes, three cables, that’s it!

And after one hour of play time, one hella fun hour of play the Wii, I was wondering… Do I really want to keep this thing?  I’m going to let Ryan make that decision.  I hate to spend $398 on something I don’t need when there are things like lenses that I want more and possibly even really need.

What do you think?  Keep the Wii or be half way to the one of the lenses I want?

The True Evils of Outsourcing

I’m sure you’ve been screwed over by outsourcing… bad technical support is probably the number one.  Dell has recognized this and moved their customer service back to America.  I’m not sure, but at first you had to pay extra to have America based tech support trough Dell, wow.

But this outsourcing is far far worse.  Wow.  Check out the Moblogic.tv video below.  They do a hell of a job bringing the news to the Web2.0 masses, one article a day.

Not Lazy

April 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Thoughts

I really don’t feel like I’m being lazy with my site right now. I have updated the look of the site, fixed some security holes, added some widgets and worked to make a better flow.

However, when I don’t make an actual post, my site traffic drops to a near crawl. I will try to be better at keeping the blog more up to date. I actually have posts in my head, I just seem to have trouble getting out of my head and onto the screen.

I am going to work on writing up a post tonight after hanging out with Chadd and possibly Michael and maybe going to Lance’s 22nd birthday party. I’m acutally at Chadd’s right now typing this on my iPhone. He’s running a bit being schedule due to work being so busy.

Speaking of being so busy, even without a job or classes, I’ve managed to keep myself quite busy and weekends are no exception! Ryan and I have made some serious headway on our patio garden. Today I planted a ln assortment of five different florals totalling around 100 different plants. Just getting the seeds started so that we can plant them into pots later.

I’m gonna end this post, not sure how much more the iPhone can handle!

From Skateparks to Zebras

April 22nd, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Photography

Over the weekend, Carrie and I went on a little photo shoot to the skate park.  I was a little nervous taking pics of a bunch of people I didn’t know, makes you feel a little weird, ya know?

They really weren’t anything special, but who am I to judge, I have trouble with a kick scooter…

There was a guy doing some fun stuff with his BMX.  Another fella was recording the antics with his video camera which made taking pictures of this particular guy less intimidating.

The main event was really the camel and zebra.  Carrie totally didn’t believe these guys existed in Columbia, it is always nice to show people new things.  How many times have I thought that Columbia was the lamest place (don’t answer that) and someone showed me something new? (on second thought, don’t answer that either)

Well anyways it’s always nice.  Plus I wanted to check up on my quadrupeds

The camel was much more outgoing than the zebra who stayed at quite a distance.  He needed a breath mint.

Tylenol Advice: Cry?

April 22nd, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Just My Thoughts, Just My Video

I saw this ad the other day… It still has me confused.

So, tell me, what do you think they are saying here.  Does crying relieve pain more than than Tylenol?  I might have to watch this again.

Evil Giraffe, Death of a Giraffe

April 20th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Video

Carrie and I went out today to do some photography stuffs, just random and fun.  She totally didn’t believe that there were exotic animals at this one house in Columbia.  I swore they had a giraffe but apparently I was wrong.  However, she was too cause she did read that blog post hehe.

So first, a video of Eddie Izzard as an evil giraffe.  He is one of my favorite, if not my favorite stand-up comedian.

Now a video Ryan sent me about the stages of death of a giraffe by Robot Chicken.  Equally as funny, well maybe.

Pictures from today will follow later tonight or maybe tomorrow.  Went to a few places today, the weather was so nice, we just had to do it!

Nimbus Cloud Computer

April 19th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Just My Nerdiness, Just My Thoughts

Ohhhh, I want this.  But, I’m not really sure why I want it.  Basically its a workstation that you either pay $19.99/month to use, or it’s a workstation you pay nothing for in exchange of ads.

Nimbus Cloud Computer

You cannot load music onto it from CD’s, well you can load anything from CD’s since it doesn’t have a CD drive, just five USB drives.  It latches onto your high speed internet connection, connects to a mainframe computer and allows you to do most of what people do online without the hassles or expense of a full sized computer.  You just provide the monitor, USB keyboard and mouse, plug it in and apparently, you are good to go.

You can do almost anything on it that doesn’t require loading too much software, or hard drive space, or specialized hardware, or…  Well, I can’t really name all the limitations until they send me test system, hint hint.  They don’t really state the limitations, which isn’t really that unexpected.

You can get around the 2gb of hard drive space with an external drive and they infer that your printer should have no trouble with this unit.  Linux has never been more approachable for a n00b.

I say this is perfect for parents who want their kids to have a computer that

  1. Is cheap
  2. Is safe
  3. Won’t get them in trouble with the evil RIAA
Let’s hope that you don’t HAVE to use ScreenPC servers for the computer to operate, just in case the fold.
