Scouts at MoJo’s Pub Crawl

October 5th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Photography

Micheal met me the other night for the Scouts concert at MoJo’s.  It was the same night as the Pub Crawl and just a day before the Blues festival here… Basically a lot of booze in a little amount of time for this city.  Awesome.

Aaaaanyways Scouts at MoJo’s with Micheal.

If you haven’t been to a Scouts concert, you don’t know what you’re missing.  (What a stupid phrase but you know what I mean…)

And since most of you haven’t been able to go see Scouts in concert, how about you get to listen to them off the radio.

Gettin’ Ink’d

October 4th, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Photography

No, not me, though I’d love to get a tattoo.  I just don’t think it fits my personality and what would Ryan or my family think?!  I imagine I’m all sorts of hard core but reality tells me I’m lame haha.

That’s why I have cool friends like Chase who got a sweet tat today at Hollywood Rebel here in Columbia.  Oh, and in classic Justin style, I was there to capture the event.

His tattooist, Gabe, had this awesome framed posted on the wall of an old Jell-O advertisement.  Ryan and I are pretty big Jell-O Gelatin fans, the sugar free variety, so I had to get a shot of it for him.

Proving the pain was nothing, Chase answers a call on his phone.  Followed by “fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck” spoken in increasing speed.  Guess it hurt more than he was letting on haha.

The end result was pretty sweet. (click for larger)

So should I get a tat..too?  I’ll put a poll here and you can tell me what you think!

Fun in/with Concordia

September 8th, 2008 | 10 Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Music, Just My Photography

Chase and the band invited me to join them on their trip to Concordia where they were to perform at a local fair of sorts.  The invitation was taken with great anticipation of an awesome time; and an awesome time was had.

The trip up was a combination of singing to crappy radio music and… well that’s really what we did the whole way up.  I showed my skills as a homo taking lead on the Mariah Carey tracks.

I guess I didn’t really know what to expect out of Concordia and in the end, it was pretty much insane.  This is a small town, a small, very white town.  In fact, out of the 2360 people that live there, only 47 of them aren’t white.  That is to say, 98% of the people of Concordia Missouri are white, the other 2% are a mix of all other races.

Yes, there were rebel flags and rednecks galore.  We had a good time taking in the sites and making fun, ahem, studying the sociological environment of Concordia, MO.

Just steps outside of the venue were all of the rides and the people.  Scouts was to play with two or three other bands but, perhaps in fear of playing after the Clash of the Titans champions, ended up playing alone as the other bands pussied out.

One of the fabulous sites outside The Hanger, the venue for the night, was this lady sitting in her kid’s stroller… smoking a cigerette.

Scouts played a set to a small, interesting crowd and then we headed out for some dinner…  But seeing as half of us are vegetarian and the other half not too excited about fair corn dogs, we chowed down on ice cream and kettle corn.

And then were the rides.  I didn’t go on any, had all my camera gear plus I was a little afraid of death via carni-engineered ride.

Mark = clearly a little nervous on the Gravitron.

Everyone came out alive. And then we watched the fabulous parade of rednecks and white trash.  It was deliciously disturbing.  These are the people who will vote Republican not matter what. These are the people who are proud of their ignorance and stupidity.

Don’t believe me?  Look at their floats.

The solution so “gas reamage” apparently is using an outhouse to collect methane gas.  Classy.

I won’t deny that the guy sitting in the outhouse is pretty hot, but the fact he is even in the outhouse ruins any sexiness.

Oh and how do we spell sponsor?  Oops, someone almost forgot that second “s”.  Never mind that EVERY SINGLE float spelled “sponsor” as “sponser”.  Holy shit…

Then Scouts went back and played a set, I took some pics and sold some Scouts CD’s and t-shirts.  My sales skills were pretty hot that night.

The second set was even better than the first and we had more ppl there to enjoy the music.  It was a good fun time and then we went out to check out the rides and games.  The rides at night were beautiful and allowed us to TRY a few promo pics.  I wish I had known ahead of time that it was going to be a fair.  I would have brought my tripod so we could do better promo pics.  Really kinda pissed I didn’t have it, they would have come out much better as far as sharpness and framing.  Holding a camera still for 3 seconds while people are trying to stay still is really quite difficult.  I am kicking myself right now for not having the tripod but we will have another chance at that… some day.

I’ll just start bringing it whenever I go anywhere with Scouts.

We headed out of town around 11:30 and went straight to Taco Bell which of course was closed… WTF?! No fourth meal?  We ended up having to get some McDonald’s; my stomach was not happy afterwards and all I had was a medium fry.

It was a really fun time.  I hope we can go to a fair again sometime soon… not sure how that will happen though.  I’d love to do these pictures and be prepared with a tripod, gah!

I am almost finished catching up with my posts though I’m kinda cheating by skipping some stuff.  Oh well, it’s my blog and I can do what I want with it.

McNally’s and Pie

September 7th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Photography

After leaving the Corey’s football party, I road my bike to McNally’s to hang out with Dave, Brittany and Crysta.  We had some drinks and hung out, had a great time.

I had never had the pizza at McNally’s and while it might have something to do with being drunk… it was really freaking good.  The cheese sticks were deadly.

The night ended with me riding home on my bike and going to bed…. Then Dave came over, we chatted for a while and then finally, I got some much needed sleep.  It was a fun night though, and thanks Dave for the pizza and shot!

Beer Pong with Scouts

September 7th, 2008 | 5 Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Photography

Wow, it’s been a week now, I’ve gotten to be very bad about blogging.  Here is what happened LAST Saturday.

Chase called me to invite me to hang with him and Scouts members at Cory’s apartment to watch the game, drink and have a fun time.

Here are some pics to elaborate on the evening since… well after a few games of Beer Pong, my own BOTTLE of Cosmopolitan and a week, much of it has been forgotten.

Corey’s team kick our ass… Damnit! We sucked hardcore haha

Our failure to win didn’t quelch Chase’s enthusiasm.

And one last shot from that portion of the night, Lisa models for Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat.  After all that fun, she still looks beautiful.

That was my night out with Scouts and Co. drinking, playing and having a really great time.  Always awesome to make new friends and to make old friendships even more awesome.

Twitterastic Fun Time

September 3rd, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Just My Life

So I’ve been a naughty blogger.

Last week I went out with some awesome twitter friends, @ProzacGod, @ok2baprincess, @EricCox and his wife @BigRed77.  ok2baprincess brought her friend Nicole along and it didn’t take long to know that I was in great company.

We started out at the Heidelberg where we had a few drinks and dinner.  I came late so I missed happy hour and dinner.  After the Berg, as we call it out here, we headed to Top Ten Wines.

Had some great wine and cheese there, Bigred77 played around with my camera and took some pretty good pics really!  I snapped one of her too.

We had our fun and eventually parted ways.  I went off to do homework, bumped into some kids who wanted their picture taken.  They were interesting, really young to be out at like 1am but I’m not their mom and Columbia is a decently safe place.

So yeah, that was the other night.  Which night, I don’t actually quite remember haha.  But fun all and all.  Yay for Twitter uniting such different people.

We’re All Going To Die

August 5th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Just My Fabulousness, Just My Life, Just My Video

That’s what the weather casters are saying and the people of Houston and South East Texas are figuring.  Why?  Cause of some measly little storm… (Which I captured with Jing, woot woot)

Yeah, that doesn’t scare me. I’ve been through worse and I’m pretty sure this is just another way that someone is trying to ruin my birthday week. Yes, birthday week cause A) I’m that cool B) Cause I like to party. Tomorrow is when the family is getting together to shower me with their love and adoration and the day I get to break the diet for a chocolate and raspberry truffle cake.

No tropical storm or hurricane can take that away from me!

It’s My Birth Day

August 2nd, 2008 | 3 Comments | Posted in Just My Life, Just My Thoughts

Twenty four years ago today my parents’ lives were changed forever.  They finally had the son they had always wanted.

Well, I guess that had happened about a year earlier but this time they had the son they…  Ok, ok, I was just the summer release sequel of the last year’s hit, Patrick.

I think I was a pretty cute kid, of course I’m partial to thinking so.  I think I was born to be a model, now I don’t dare claim to have grown into being a model, sadly, but I sure had the look.

Here I am pretending that I’m bulimic.  No, not really, but it’s anyone’s guess as to what the hell I was doing with my hand.

It is crazy to me that I have changed so much, but clearly, I have always been gay.  I mean, look at that picture, gay gay gay!

Today however, 24 years after birth, I’m headed home to Houston with my mom.  With Ryan in Tennessee and nothing really happening in Columbia, I figured, why not?  Sadly, I kinda ruined a surprise birthday from Micheal, Jenny and Co.  That sucks, if I had known I would not have purchased my return flight and just hung out in Columbia.  However, we are planning to do something when I get back in town and you are all invited!

As of right now we have about seven more hours of driving.  I’m lucky to only have the task of sitting in the car since I’m not insured on this rental car.

I’m hoping to be able to visit my cousins in Rockport Texas who I have seen once in like four years and will miss not seeing Joseph who now lives in Seoul Korea!  Joseph has always been the highlight of visiting Houston.

Well, that’s really it for now I guess, I need to read my blogroll which I am way behind in doing.  Catch you guys later!

Amy’s Ice Creams

July 14th, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Just My Life

Holy heck, this ice cream is the bomb.  Next time any of you guys are in Austin, or where ever there is an Amy’s Ice Creams, you MUST get some.

Best Ice Cream, Best Service, Yummy!

Best Ice Cream, Best Service, Yummy!

Ryan and I tried the Peanut Butter and Oreo, never had better ice cream.  Plus the people working there were awesome.  Really funny and friendly.  Yay for fun Texans and great treats.  Since vacation is now officially over, we can’t indulge in such delights.

When’s the next vacation…!

Remember the Alamo

July 14th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Just My Life

Saturday, after picking up my new iPhone 3G, Ryan, my dad and I met up with my mom at the Valencia Hotel on the Riverwalk.  From the hotel we walked down to the water to get some tapas.  They were tasty and the view was great.  I had not been to the Riverwalk in quite some time.

After the snack we took a stroll down to the Alamo and other similar sites.

Weve Certainly Got Direction

We've Certainly Got Direction

We passed my great grandfather’s pharmacy and the old zoo that was indoors, like in a building downtown… how crazy.  If the bears got loose… holy shit!
