Vista Me?

So we should all know by now that I am no longer a Windows fan boy.  I actually had a terrible experience using Vista the other day.  So then why am I thinking about upgrading to Windows Vista on my laptop/desktop?

Both computers can run Vista, that’s why.  My laptop… well it would do better without the upgrade but my desktop smokes the minimum requirements.

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
  • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:

    • WDDM Driver
    • 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
    • Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
    • 32 bits per pixel
  • DVD-ROM drive
  • Audio Output
  • Internet access (fees may apply)

I have a 3.16ghz Pentium 4, 3gb of system memory, 800gb of hard drive space, DirectX 10, 256mb of video memory, two DVD drives (DVD and DVD-R 16x and another CD-R drive), 7.1 audio output and high speed internet.

I just want to play with it… is that so wrong?  Carrie, don’t hate me!

  1. I would only upgrade your desktop. That way you could play with the way Vista and XP interact by having both of them. Besides, save your money to blow on something more fun like Pokemon!

  2. you just rock and I miss you, but since I’m responding to a comment I’ll have to give you two cents. I’ll put them on the night stand pick them up whenever. vista blows, treat it like a groundhog, give it a good 6 more months before you put any faith in it. I’m just talking out of my bum hole, hope it isn’t too stinky! PAINTBALL BABY!

  3. i should smack ya just for the thought of touching windows.
    lol

although i can’t say much i also wanted to play with it so i had my grandma go buy a new vista pc…

WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.. we are returning it asap!!! and asap isn’t soon enough!!
    lol

    Vista..
    “Yeah, its that bad”

  4. Well I didn’t install Vista on my iMac but I did install Kubuntu. It’s pretty fun BUT I need to find a way to get my bluetooth keyboard and mouse to work. Right now I can just look at a pretty screen haha.

  5. I kept an 8GB hard drive from my old xbox, which I was planning on putting Vista on… It supported a few Alpha testings, but no Betas, since they upped the minimum requirements.

What do you do with 800GB of hard drive space?! You might as well just go with a TeraBite and be able to brag about it.

  6. Well i have a 500gb hard drive on that computer for all the programs and operating system etc and the 300gb drive held my media. I now use my iMac and have over 400gb of media (music, movies, tv shows from the iTunes Music Store) which I’m going to be putting on a 1terabyte external hard drive, once i get the money for it. That PC sits in a closet, how sad is that?!
