I have so many things to update you guys and gals on these days. I’ve been so busy traveling, working, vacationing and other things that end with “ing” that I haven’t had time for one of the most important “ing” things, blogging.
Really quickly I’d like let you know about a great deal. Keith and the Girl, the podcast I’ve done some work with and have been a dedicated fan of for the last eight plus years, is giving my friends, readers, followers and stalkers (yeah you too…) a free download of their HILARIOUS Stand-Up-Athon.
This video was shared on Facebook by my friend Sam. It illustrates almost exactly what happens to me when I have a bit too much. One of my friend’s, named Aaron (I have fifteen), has a recording of such a moment. If it ever makes it to the Internet I’ll have 14 friends named Aaron. Of course if he illustrates it like this, fair game.
Remember the other day when you were saying how much you loved the sketch series “Drunk History” but that you wished how instead of history it was a corny joke about tortilla chips that Morgan Patch told her husband Adam while sauced off her ass on a bottle of wine, which he then turned into an animated short?
I wish I had his skills and her jokes. You’re welcome and Happy Friday!
San Francisco, well California in general, is one of those places that you just want to show off. When I lived in Columbia the extent I would show off my town was really limited to the University of Missouri campus, Shakespeare’s Pizza, the Artisan (RIP) and Top Ten Wines. If they were especially adventurous we might hit up the Pinnacles north of town or Rock Bridge Memorial State Park south of town. We could get everything done in a day, easily.
San Francisco and Northern California are so different. I’ve lived here for a total of four years and I feel like I’ve only skimmed the surface. I am regularly thanking my friends Jimmy and Aaron for helping me discover new and often inspiring features of this part of the country. Whether it’s a mountain to be climbed or a fantastic restaurant at which to be dined.
I’m headed back to the Big Apple! It seems like I was just there and I can’t wait to get back. Over the years New York City has become one of my favorite places to visit. From the delicious food, fun night light and one of a kind shopping, the city so nice they named it twice has it all. Best of all it has amazing people and for the week I’ll be there, some really amazing events.
This trip to New York is centered around KATG Week. For those who don’t know, KATG stands for Keith and the Girl, a New York based comedy podcast hosted by Keith Malley and Chemda (the girl). They were the second podcast I ever subscribed to and the only one that has lasted in my iTunes library for the eight years since they first started. We’ve also done some work together.
KATG Week is a week long celebration full of comedy shows, drinks, games, live shows, music and general fun times. It ends with Keith’s annual standup show and after party.
My nights will be pretty much taken over by KATG events but I want to see you all if possible! Now I know what it’s like to be both Bruce Wayne and Batman. Here is my schedule:
Everyone loves Kristen Bell. Whether she’s the uncredited voice on Gossip Girl, being forgotten as Sarah Marshall, an electrified hero on NBC’s Heroes or the crime-solving sleuth known as Veronica Mars. Her ability to be absolutely adorable on screen is only matched by her ability to be the silver tongued protagonist everyone wants on their side.
Rob Thomas, the creator of Veronica Mars, has been pitching a movie version of the cult TV show for a while now. Sadly Warner Bros., who owns Veronica Mars, kept saying no due to the relatively low ratings the show got (ahem, Firefly). However, Warner Bros. said their mind could be changed if Rob Thomas could prove the fan interest was there. Continue reading →
I’ve been on quite the blogging hiatus. My only excuse is that work has been busy but in reality, I’ve been busier and managed to write. I worry sometimes that I’m losing my passion for this blog. I’ll write reviews and articles and then let them site for weeks, even months.
After that I went to Houston and Austin a few times. I even did a Houston Twitter Meetup (Tweetup). We had around twenty people show up and even earned ourselves a prank call from someone who called the restaurant where we were hosting the shindig. Huge thanks to Kristen for setting up the whole thing.
I hit up Florida again and had a wonderful time hanging out with Justin and Mike out there. Frank even let me crash in his room while he was out of town. Still haven’t met him! I even scored some time with Joey, who is visiting San Francisco soon along with Alexandra and Corey.
This weekend Ryan and I hosted around thirty friends over for hors d’oeuvre, wine and fondue. We had a blast and I think everyone else did as well. We love having friends over, sharing our home and chitchatting over drinks and fun food.
We played around with a new wine gadget of mine. It’s the Host Adjustable Wine Aerator. It promises to age your wine through aeration simulating anywhere from less than 1 hour of aeration all the way to six hours of aeration. I am not one to trust wine gadgets but this one peeked my interest enough that I bought one from Kenneth Wingard.
But for what it’s worth, that is what has been going on. I hope to get out some reviews pretty soon. Here is a list of items on the list:
Bose QuiteComfort 15 noise canceling headphones
Audio-Technica ATH-M50 studio headphones
Fiio E6 Headphone Amplifier
Das Keyboard Model S Pro
MEElectronics M6P headphones
ZAGGkeys PRO+ iPad keyboard case
ZAGG iPhone 5 bumper case
ZAGG ZR-Six in-ear headphones
ZAGG ZR-LE headphones
iFrogs Aura headphones
Host Adjustable Wine Aerator
Graze Healthy Snacks
NatureBox Healthy Snacks
So many things I have to review. I should do my best to try and do a review or two a week. In reality that should be totally doable. Let’s just hope I can commit myself to it.
I also have a post to write about Instagram. It’s actually a two-parter and it’s actually already done, I just need to re-work it. The first post is about Instagram and my thoughts on it. Most people understand me to hate the service and anyone who uses it. I mean to correct people. The second post is a belated in-depth piece about Instagram’s, and other web services’, use and user rights policies.
Eventually I’d like to get back to writing here daily, as I did for years. But let’s start with baby steps. I’m also working to be better at posting photos on my photo site, Justin Moore Scott. Photography is perhaps my greatest inanimate love. I have even recently purchased a handful of fantastic fine-art photography books.
I have a tendency of buying or receiving great photography books like this and then never taking them out of their cellophane wrapping. Maybe I’ll actually open a few of these up and find some inspiration to bring back the passion in my photography.
I suppose the only other thing that is notable enough for writing is that I started again the 4-Hour Body diet, aka slow-carb diet. This time I’m doing it with my friend Kevin. Since starting I’ve dropped over 5 pounds but this time around I’m not as worried about the weight as much as my muscle to fat ratio. So I’ll allow my weight to go up as long as I’m building muscle. Hopefully that will come as I’ve started personal training again. Sadly with a new trainer, my old one was amazing. I picked up a new one that didn’t work out but I have another new one that seems to be pretty awesome.
So there you go. You’re mostly caught up to date. Now I head to bed so I can wake up and be ready to have my body abused at the gym until I’m so weak, walking up the stairs is not unlike summiting Everest.
I discovered this movie trailer this morning while scrolling through YouTube videos. It’s a foreign film that apparently stars Penélope Cruz and Antonio Banderas so my hopes are high. However, I could not get beyond the idea that this is what Skylor really does at cruising altitude (see main character, the one in the middle of the frame).
Acclaimed, world-renowned Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar has been working on his next film titled Los amantes pasajeros, or re-titled to I’m So Excited! in English. Sony Pictures Classics, who already has the rights to release this sometime next year, has unveiled an early teaser trailer mostly showing three drunk male flight attendants singing and dancing to “I’m So Excited” by the Pointer Sisters. I’m really not sure what this is or what it’s about beyond that, but it’s supposedly set entirely on an airplane, which is a fun twist for Pedro Almodóvar.
Oh but seriously, who doesn’t want to see this movie? It looks pretty fabulous to me!
