Subject: Personality Profile – General Inquiry[#3180758]

I am upset that you do you recognize homosexuality on your website. YOu say that you help people “Fall in love for all the right reasons”. You imply that homosexuality is not “right” and that is upsetting. As a psychologist, Dr. Warren should know the stance of the American Phsychological Association on homosexuality as well as the American Psychiatric Association. Both agree that homosexuality is not a disorder, it is a natural occuring sexual preference. It is right.

What is the opinion of eHarmony.com and/or Dr. Warren on this point?

Why does eHarmony.com not recognize homosexuality as I learned this morning when I tried to sign up?

What do you at eHarmony.com plan to do, if anything, to include homosexuality?

Is it Dr. Warren’s ties to Focus on the Family that keep eHarmony.com homophobic?

Thank you for your help. I am just an upset individual who needs some guidance and some answers to questions on this matter.

Regards,
Justin Scott

and they finally replied to me!

Dear Justin,

Thank you for contacting eHarmony.com, and we apologize for the delay in responding.

eHarmony provides an Internet relationship service with a patented matching system designed to match highly compatible men and women who are seeking a long-term relationship. eHarmony’s patented matching system is premised on over 35 years of clinical practice and empirical study with opposite-sex couples about the similarities and differences between men and women and what leads to a successful opposite-sex relationship. eHarmony has not developed the same long-term research on the most successful same-sex unions. For that reason, eHarmony does not provide online matching services to persons seeking only same-sex matches. It does not, however, prevent anyone from accessing the website, filling out the Relationship Questionnaire, receiving the free Personality Profile, and using the opposite-sex service as we currently provide it.
