We’re having a Seattle Tweetup!

I arrived from Texas and Orlando into San Francisco around midnight last night. Eight and a half hours later I was back at the airport but this time headed to Seattle. And this time for the sole purpose of having a great time going on adventures in the Emerald City.

Klout #2daysinseattle

The great people from the Seattle Department of Tourism and Klout have provided Ryan and I, along with Aaron and his friend, a free, all-expense trip to Seattle to explore the city and share our experiences with everyone we know. It’s called Two Days in Seattle. Ryan and I have already arrived at the Silver Cloud Hotel and Aaron is on his way!

Tomorrow night we’re hoping to get a group of people together for a meetup. Aaron’s got the details on his blog post here, but I’ll paste them below as well. Hope to see you all there!

Saturday, July 21st 7:30pm
Grim’s, Butterfly Lounge & The Woods
1512 11th Avenue, Seattle, CA 98122

We’ll also be doing dinner ahead of the meetup. If you want to join, just shoot me or Aaron a tweet and we’ll let you know where and when! Can’t wait to meet and explore your city.

You’re welcome to RSVP to the Facebook event. Follow the hashtag #2DaysinSeattle and the @2DaysinSeattle account to keep up with what we’re doing up here. Also you can follow Aaron (what you aren’t already?!) on Twitter.

Eastbound and Down

May 29th I will be taking flight to the East Coast with a singular purpose, to see you New Yorkers. This jaunt will be followed by a trip down to visit my friends in Washington DC before heading back west June 6. It’s a short trip but I plan to fill it with oceans of fun.

New York City Skyline

I would love to see you all my New York City friends and my Washington DC friends on this trip. I think the easiest way for us to do that is to choose a night to all meet up for dinner, drinks and debauchery. There are only a couple of nights in New York City that this can happen but I will also be free during the day for coffees, lunches, museums, etc.

Take a look at that schedule and let me know when you’re free to hang out. Feel free to suggest things I should do, places I should eat and bars where I should have a drink. As far as New York City, I still have never seen a Broadway show, gasp, and have only been to a couple of museums. So if either of those whet your appetite, let’s make it happen! Looking forward to seeing you guys.

Washington DC and the White House

As far as my time in Washington DC, well I have a lot more of it. So let’s get creative about the time we share together in The District. I’m even tempted to add on a night in Philadelphia but with the tight schedule I have, that might not be possible.

Quick Trip to San Francisco

The Flight Is Booked!

I just booked my flight for a quick, QUICK trip to San Francisco.  I’ll be leaving Missouri December 12 and will be in town until December 14th.  Yeah, a really quick trip.

So, if you live or will be in the bay area next weekend, hit me up through a comment on this blog post, a tweet on my twitter, a message or wall post on my facebook or a message on myspace.  I’m pretty easy… to get in touch with.

Look forward to meeting up with anyone and everyone.  I’ll be bringing my camera to take pics while I’m out there.

Finally, believe it or not, I’ve never even taken a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge (I had to get that one from the flickr!).  Somehow I managed to never get a picture, never mind that I have visited San Francisco more times than I can count… I lived just an hour north outside of Santa Rosa and even lived in the city yet never got a picture of the bridge.  I even know the turn off for the shot everyone uses.

I must remedy that!

See you guys soon!  I’m super duper excited.

Blogography Davelouis – Late and Irate

City of St.Image via Wikipedia

So I finally have gotten the chance or energy or whatever to write about Dave from Blogography.com’s trip to St. Louis for Davelouis.

I decided before heading out of town that I’d be smart to get a GPS for the long drive and the fucking confusing traffic in St. Louis as the city decides to shut down its most heavily trafficed roads for months at a time.  Every other time I have gone to St. Louis, either as a passenger or driver, getting lost seemed to be top priority.

Getting lost is one of the things that annoys me the most in the world.  I guess it’s because it leads to my even great pet peeve, being late.

I got a GPS, that will be talked about in another post, it’s a story all its own.  And it lead me to being late… nice.

Once I got to Blueberry Hill I met up with the gang.  And since I’m lazy right now, I’m just going to steal from Blogography the summary of people (naughty naughty) in attendance.

  • Ajooja… from Ajooja. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! I have Ajooja to thank for everything, since he’s the one who entered the Grand Prize Drawing for Blogiversary V and picked St. Louis to meet. I had already met him last year at Davecago 2, but we’ve known each other online well before that (he wrote two previous blogs I enjoyed). It’s easy to find all kinds of nice things to say about Ajooja, but the fact that he went out of his way to drive me back to my hotel after the event just about says it all.
  • Carlos… who doesn’t blog, but has been reading Blogography for three years. Since I manually approve every comment here, I recognized his email address immediately when it hit my inbox with the subject “Dave Louis.” In some ways, it’s more interesting meeting your readers who don’t blog because all you know about them come from the comments they leave. Though it was no surprise to find that Carlos is just as kind and supportive in person as he has always been on my blog.
  • Ellipsis… a mysterious former-blogger that I’m pissed I missed out on, because if her blog was anything like she is in person, it must have been a very entertaining read indeed.
  • Gina… from SeeGinaBlog. One of my favorite Twitter People (Tweeps?!?), Gina was kind enough to not only go out to dinner with me on Friday so I wouldn’t have to eat alone… but she also let me watch her get tattooed, introduced me to her beau, AND didn’t yell at me when I forgot her name badge lanyard back at the hotel! As if being a truly sweet and interesting person wasn’t enough, she’s got a great eye for photography too!
  • Justin… from Just Justin. A very recent find, I first ran across Justin on other blogs I read. Like me, Justin is a Mac & iPhone whore. Unlike me, Justin is an amazing photographer. When I first found out about his blog, I sat down and read through every single entry so I could see beautiful shots like these. Yes, I hate him just a little bit.
  • The Queen from Queen Mediocretia of Suburbia. I always say that the best part of going to blogger gatherings is meeting the people behind the blogs you read. A close second is finding sweet new blogs you didn’t know about. My audience with The Queen was a lot of fun in person… but that didn’t prepare me for her blog, which is funny as hell. She wrote a re-cap here. But it’s what happened AFTER Dave Louis that made me LOL. And, while I would usually never forgive somebody for using “LOL” on my blog, Her Majesty DID blog a recipe for Gooey Butter CoffeeCake, so all is forgiven.
  • Sarah… who currently doesn’t blog, but really should. I award Sarah the coveted “Best Dressed at Dave Louis Award” for showing up in a classy “Zombies Ate My Brains” T-Shirt. The girl knows how to dress to impress at a party!

Yes, Dave did it best haha.

It was a great fantastical group of people.  I even kinda sorta knew some of them; “Ellipses” and Sarah both know a good friend of mine from Columbia who is also my old coworker and possibly my cousin (we never sorted that one out).  Sarah and I are pretty sure that we know each other on our own but we could not pin point our first encounter.

So we chitchatted, ate and had a fabulous time at Blueberry Hill.  There was a magic show going on and an Asian Elvis impersonator; both were private party only but that didn’t stop the imagination from flowing.

After talks of fudgy bunt cake a la mode and ooey gooey butter cake, the troupe of St. Louians decided that nothign would be good enough for Dave except Ted Drewes Frozen Custard.

I had enver had Ted Drewes and didn’t want to break my diet but decided one bite would be ok.  Of course Ellipses had to twist my arm a bit.

It was good but… THIS good?

I guess you could said it’s so good it’s to die for!

Oh snap!

Guess someone had more than their fill.  Old lady fell to the ground and well… didn’t get up for a bit.  She did manage to get up and put herself onto the gurney before they trucked her off though they did spend an awful long time there just sitting.  Something tells me they got themselves some Ted Drewes.

Before we too fell to the fate of the little old lady, we decided to part ways but not without a picture!

It was a great time and totally worth all the trouble to get out there!

Pride, Porn and Jestertunes

Keith and The Girl logo

I got an email from Paul from Jestertunes.com saying he wanted to meet up at Pride.  He has been a long time reader of my blog and I thought it would be totally fun to meet a reader.

I listened to Keith and the Girl (KATG) as I walked the walk from our hotel to the Bart and from the station to the Civic Center where all of the festivities were going on.  For the longest time I was lost in the KATG episode instead of pride and it wasn’t until Paul called me that it really kicked in where I was haha.

Down there I bumped into a classmate from Santa Rosa Junior College who I met through an old friend, Chris.  He’s another porn star (Turk Melrose) (wow, I know a lot of porn stars) and probably the best looking one I know, wink wink.

One thing I have noticed about the porn stars I know, they are all so nice.  Like, the sweetest people you would ever meet.  He was signing autographs and looking all sorts of busy so I didn’t hang around too much.

But while I was at his booth waiting for him to get a free moment, I found a couple of DVD’s of an old flame (haha) and a flier for their company, Pornteam.com, which used the same stock photography I purchased for the Megaplex site I made.  I found that pretty funny.

Then off to another booth.  I was approached a few times for kisses and handed condoms and lube from a few people… Oh Pride how I love you.

Met Paul and his crew at the Smirnoff booth.  What fun people these guys were!  We shamelessly judged and drooled over guys and had just a gay ‘ol time.

Then there was of course, the weird (even more weird than the above Gay Zombie)

After a while we decided to make a bee line for some dinner.  Every year they get Thai food after the festivities.

On the way to Thai we bumped into Nick Starr.  Fun guy.  He propositioned me a few more times (hehe) and we took a few pictures together, Paul, Nick and Justin: Internet Whores.

I just had a cup of really yummy soup at Zen Yai Thai since I was waiting to eat my real meal with Ryan.

We bumped into some more porn stars (damn, lucky us) and haggled them on a DVD.  Went from $25 to $10 to $5 to $7 + and ass grab.  It was fun, he was cute (on the left).

We hung out there for a good long time, before I went back to the hotel where, despite our plans for authentic Thai, we ended up crashing the rest of the night.  Still, it was a lot of fun, and meeting some readers was awesome too.
