Check out this trailer for the film adaptation of, “We Need to Talk About Kevin“.
“We Need to Talk About Kevin” is a 2003 novel by Lionel Shriver, adapted into film, about a fictional school massacre. It is written from the perspective of the killer’s mother, Eva Khatchadourian, and documents her attempt to come to terms with her son Kevin and the murders he committed. –Wiki
Watching the movie, I couldn’t help but put myself into the head of the mother, fearing for her life as much as for mine. That’s when you know you have a good psychological thriller. Same thing happened to me with the first Paranormal Activity.
There have been half a dozen or more movies based on the same premise of “The Omen” but they all seem to fall flat. I have a feeling this film will be an exception.
The film adaptation of the novel stars Tilda Swinton (amazing), John C. Reilly (amazing) and Ezra Miller (pretty; good in Royal Pains). Those first two actors pretty much guaranteed to be a great film. Ezra won an MVFF Award for his portrayal of Kevin and based on his haunting presence in the trailer, I’m not surprised.
I cannot wait to see this film. Hopefully it will get Film Riot‘s attention. I would love to get their thoughts on the cinematography, color and almost imperturbable action of Lynne Ramsay’s directing.
