Ryan send me a link to this really awesome artist named Mark Jenkins and his tape sculpture project. You really must check out his site and view the incredible scenes he has created with plastic wrap and packing tape.
I have taken this idea on and will be making pictures tonight using one of the models Micheal and I made. He was such a good sport holding still for a few hours while I wrapped him in plastic wrap and then taped him up… followed by the sometimes painful cutting off of his exoskeleton.
We only had time to make one and we didn’t actually get to take any pics with him, we were too tired after the four hour construction! We also didn’t make him quite strong enough, needed a few more layers of tape but I felt awful holding Micheal up like that for 180 feet of packing tape.
I hope to make a few more for this project and will, but tonight I’ll have to make due with the one.
What would be really cool is if I had access to a mannequin. Can anyone help? I, for some reason, feel that Karen (aka @ok2baprincess) has a connection here. She never ceases to amaze me.

That’s absolutely incredible! I wish I had the artistic vision that some people have..of course then if I had it, I likely wouldn’t be blessed with the abilities to achieve said vision.

sadly, i could probably station one of these in my office and 1. my co-workers wouldn’t know the difference and 2. my productivity would realize a 180% increase.

Hmm, we don’t have a mannequin here, just a spine. The peeps down at prosthetics & orthotics have the form for a torso via a spinal orthoses and will let you borrow one. My friend Christena does hair and has several “heads” that you can use.
I can think of only one person I know with access to a mannequin and am not sure she could make it happen (PT employee and Victoria’s Secret), but I will do the following two things if you like:
1. In all my yogi-ness I can stand still for a long time and have excellent breathing so if you want a short female cast with a large butt you can wrap me in tape. Hell, I can even hold chair position long enough to get wrapped up if you need a seated person. In fact, now that I think of it, I think tape casts, all lit up, and in various yoga poses in a candlelit room would make a great ad for a yoga studio.
2. I have no shame or embarrassment and will gladly do my best to coerce a store manager at some retail place to let you use one of their’s. My friend Mark just walked in and said he will ask his friend that works in administration at the mall if he can gain you access to one.
I think there is definite potential for you to do something awesome with this idea.

I must say, that I can not agree with you in 100%, but that’s just my opinion, which could be very wrong.
p.s. You have a very good template . Where did you find it?
