My photography professor gave us a project to work on and tomorrow he wants to see some of what we’ve thought up, taken shots of, etc.
The theme is “Public” and the first thing that popped into my head was urinals. Public restrooms, isn’t that what you thought of? I also thought public workers (firefighters, utility employees, police, etc)… But I have easier access to public restrooms and you’re supposed to follow your first thought anyways, right?
Here goes what I have so far.
Thoughts? Suggestions of something else I could do? The next project will be titled, Private. So maybe I’ll go into friend’s restrooms a sneak shots of the medicine cabinet or the bathroom itself, something equally awful. I could also put a note on Craigslist and ask for ppl who would model for private moments with their significant other or their insignificant other, whichever.

I think your backlighting is great but…if your concept is urinals – you only have toilets.
I like your idea of exposing personal medicine cabinets as the private component.

I totally would love to do private displays of affection, just hard to find ppl to model for it. I might try craigslist and see if I get responses.
Okay, I really like public vs private bathrooms; that is a great idea and quite thematic when done in tandem so if you stick w/restrooms for public, stick with them for private. You can photograph my medicine cabinets. Addtionally, if you decide to go PDA vs PDA ooh la la I’m sure that I can talk Todd Smith (a.k.a. my hubby) into one or the other, and I really don’t care. On a completely gross note and in keeping with theme a bit, when I see the word public, I sorta see the word pubic too so I think you’re on the right track.Bottom right is my fav of the 4.

Haha, I totally see pubic too. I think PDA/PDA would be really fun but getting it done could be hard; though ideas are flowing in my head right now and maybe it wouldn’t be so hard or require too many models.

Yes, yes; I like it; however, my mind wanders so I am offering you the following thoughts as well (sadly I’m sure there will be others to keep me awake tonight): 1. Public vs. Private schools: Pro – kids are great subjects and opportunity for a little photographic socio-economic commentary; Cons – not very original/someone else will likely do and people might think you’re a pervert taking kids’ pics…ugh, there’s that creepy guy with camera ;-)2. Drag Queens on Stage (Public) vs. Drag Queens at their other jobs/not in drag (Private): Pro – original (I think) and should make great subjects; Cons – maybe not obvious enough that it’s keeping w/the assignment…….oh, another Pro – specials at SOCO on Thursday nights

Also, you could always flip the definition of what’s private and what’s public for the Drag Queens.
