Night Light

What an awesome night tonight turned out to be. Twitter buddies @Airrun, @JHolman23, @jasetrevino and @Marris_Returns came over for wine, bread, cheese, and fun.

It was my first pseudo tweetup since moving back to San Francisco, the first time I had seen Jimmy since he moved here from Missouri and the first time I had the pleasure of meeting Jason or Aaron. We listened to music, watched some hilarious YouTube videos, talked about everything and nothing at the same time.

It was a pretty awesome night. Even Ryan got to join in on the fun which was such a pleasant surprise. Seems any other time we do something like this, his hectic work schedule gets in the way. Now I just can’t wait for the next time I have friends over for wine and a great time.

The photo of the day, way up there, is yet another one from the roof of our apartment shooting into the neighboring backyard. There is something about this particular apartment and their 6000 watt light that shines light pollution across the common grassy space between the buildings that is so romantic to me. It’s what I imagine a Gregory Crewdson photo would look like if he had a crew of one and a budget of none.

Willkommen nach Frankfurt!

After about ten or eleven hours of travel, from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain then back to Saudi Arabia to connect to another flight (for real) I am in Frankfurt Germany.  Oh yeah, but first I met this awesome girl from Tel Aviv who is now my Facebook friend (social media for the win!) who got lost along with me in the airport, through a series of horrible directions from airport workers…  We finally made it to our fork in the road.  She was gate 13, I, gate 15.  Since she was going to Isreal, a known terrorist-ridden country with hundreds of years of historic terrorism, suicide bombings, religious cleansing she had her very own special security screening system to go through.

Oh and since I’m from America, coming from Saudi Arabia, I got my own round of fun.  Taken to my own private room, they gave me the full one over.  When all was said and done, I made it to my gate and here I sit.  For the next several hours…

But don’t worry for me too much.  I got a great cappuccino, an authentic german pretzel (which was meh) and a couple of hours of T-Mobile Internet for the small cost of $22 (hella expensive).

Oh did I mention they are jamming, like blasting, Beyonce and David Guetta.  That’s pretty fabulous haha.

A Cake, a Movie, a Melon Baller

I’ve made some wonderful friends through Twitter and just a few weekends ago, I got to share one of these friendships with many of my old friends.

Ryan and Ben, (@rzhale and @joubiku, respectively on Twitter) came into town for a weekend away from the bustling city life that is Kansas City, ahem.  The weekend had been heavily anticipated for all involved for a few weeks and as the days closed in the anticipation grew to astronomical proportions.
I welcomed them to their new home for the weekend, my apartment and shortly after their arrival we headed down to Shakespeare’s Pizza (@ShakesPizza) for some dinner, drinks and a fun environment.

After pizza we stopped by Top Ten Wines for a few minutes before ultimately heading back to my apartment for wine, cookies and hours of hilarious YouTube videos. I don’t’ think Phoebe (@fotofobe), Josh (@brooding_soul), Ryan, Ben or I had ever laughed as hard in our lives. One of the most entertaining evenings in I’ve ever had.

Phoebe and I decided we should share our new addiction to Cafe Berlin (@CafeBerlin) to Josh, Ryan and Ben. Amazing breakfast, delicious food, fun, waitstaff and a comically difficult cream dispenser.

That evening was Cake and a Movie Night (#CaaM).  I made a Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and a bittersweet chocolate-peanut butter ganache.

Before Cake and a Movie, we headed out for wine drinking at Top Ten Wines downtown (@TopTenWines), my absolute favorite wine bar, where Chase (@clettenberg) performing.  Yet again, Chase put on a great show and as per usual, Lauren (@laurenkilberg) proved to be a fantastic wine maiden.

Cake and a Movie had a great turn out, some regulars and some new attendees.

My Ryan (@kaleb1983) finally got to join us for the weekend festivities.  We watched Toy Story, the Pixar film that put them on the map.  Wow, who would have known how funny that movie would be, over ten years later.  I sure wasn’t expecting all the laughs.

The next morning, Ryan, Ben, Ryan and I went to Bleu for a brunch before Ben and Ryan had to head out of town.

Manny Garcia can SING!

Thanks @DrBach98 for the link to this video. Manny Garcia (@mannygarcia) can reallysing. Wow. This video put me in such a wonderful mood. I hope it does the same for you.

Here are a couple Glee songs mashed up…not on the show (since they’re on two separate episodes) but by me!

Glee songs are all covers, so the original “True Colors” is by Cyndi Lauper, and “Defying Gravity” is from the musical Wicked.

Pride, Porn and Jestertunes

I got an email from Paul from Jestertunes.com saying he wanted to meet up at Pride.  He has been a long time reader of my blog and I thought it would be totally fun to meet a reader.

I listened to Keith and the Girl (KATG) as I walked the walk from our hotel to the Bart and from the station to the Civic Center where all of the festivities were going on.  For the longest time I was lost in the KATG episode instead of pride and it wasn’t until Paul called me that it really kicked in where I was haha.

Down there I bumped into a classmate from Santa Rosa Junior College who I met through an old friend, Chris.  He’s another porn star (Turk Melrose) (wow, I know a lot of porn stars) and probably the best looking one I know, wink wink.

One thing I have noticed about the porn stars I know, they are all so nice.  Like, the sweetest people you would ever meet.  He was signing autographs and looking all sorts of busy so I didn’t hang around too much.

But while I was at his booth waiting for him to get a free moment, I found a couple of DVD’s of an old flame (haha) and a flier for their company, Pornteam.com, which used the same stock photography I purchased for the Megaplex site I made.  I found that pretty funny.

Then off to another booth.  I was approached a few times for kisses and handed condoms and lube from a few people… Oh Pride how I love you.

Met Paul and his crew at the Smirnoff booth.  What fun people these guys were!  We shamelessly judged and drooled over guys and had just a gay ‘ol time.

Then there was of course, the weird (even more weird than the above Gay Zombie)

After a while we decided to make a bee line for some dinner.  Every year they get Thai food after the festivities.

On the way to Thai we bumped into Nick Starr.  Fun guy.  He propositioned me a few more times (hehe) and we took a few pictures together, Paul, Nick and Justin: Internet Whores.

I just had a cup of really yummy soup at Zen Yai Thai since I was waiting to eat my real meal with Ryan.

We bumped into some more porn stars (damn, lucky us) and haggled them on a DVD.  Went from $25 to $10 to $5 to $7 + and ass grab.  It was fun, he was cute (on the left).

We hung out there for a good long time, before I went back to the hotel where, despite our plans for authentic Thai, we ended up crashing the rest of the night.  Still, it was a lot of fun, and meeting some readers was awesome too.

Ummm… Amazing?

For real… that was amazing.  Did you see that shit?  She fell from the freaking ceiling into the splits as her intro.

Ok, so all you Missouri, and especially you Columbia, locals who think the drag queens at Club SoCo are worth anything.

Oh, and this is totally dedicated to Chadd.  It’s Bonnie Tyler – Waiting for a Hero, but of course, you knew that.
