This Infomercial Defines What’s Wrong with America

Every night at 10 o’clock I have a button I click in Safari. The moment I click this button, my browser is begins loading around ten “daily deals” websites. Woot.com was the start of it all but it seems to grow by a few sites each year. Most of the deals on these sites aren’t so much great steals as they are “turns out this thing sucks and we’ve gotta liquidate it” deals. Like the time I bought “OEM Apple Ear Pod Headphones” which translated to “OMG how could these sound so horrible” headphones.

But something you get awesome legit deals, like the time I got a sweet vacuum for 80% off. Yes, I have a thing for vacuums. It’s hit or miss and after a while you get an almost religious understanding of how these sites, and their wine compatriots, work things. To me it’s worth checking in at 10 o’clock, midnight CST, to see what’s new.

Last night I clicked and saw something I just couldn’t un-see; partly because my vibrant imagination went directly where it shouldn’t. Remember “Batter Blaster!”? Think along those lines. It’s the Rollie EggMaster Vertical Grill, and I assure you, this is the real deal.

Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

If you watched the first season of The Walking Dead on AMC, then you are probably as excited as I am to get a glimpse of season two. Who knows how long this will be on YouTube before AMC takes it down but, here goes!

Let’s Enhance

One of my biggest pet peeves on television shows, especially crime shows, is how obnoxious their computers and technology are.  Every bleep, blap and bloop with every click, tap and scroll really annoys the heck out of me.  So when I saw this compilation of obnoxious photo-enhance scenes from popular television shows and movies, I knew I had to share it.  Going through YouTube I discovered a plethora of these compilations, totally check them out.  Woot has a great selection here.

Leo Laporte Won an Emmy for This?!

Ok, so you might know that @LeoLaporte is a hero of mine. I know @ZackLuye knows that, he just LOVES to point out his affiliations to my technology heroes haha.  I even went as far as moving to the area of California where Leo lives and even worked at the Starbucks he always goes to for his coffee in Petaluma!

Stalker much? Meh, maybe.  Never did meet him though.

This morning Leo mentioned something that popped up on the web about him in the latest This Week in Google, one of Leo’s podcasts.  There was something on the internet that said, “Leo Laporte makes $1″

I looked it up. Turns out Leo Laporte makes $1.5 million a year doing his TWiT network, not $1 haha.  While reading more about him, I stumbled onto this video where he talks his rise from radio to broadcast TV and then to where he is today, self-distributed internet podcasting.

Click here to view the video (can’t embed…)

It’s a great video if you have the time to watch all forty minutes.  But the point of this blog post is his Dev Null character on his MSNBC show, The Site.  Leo makes fun of this character, so I don’t feel so bad doing the same.  Because the producers, of his own show, didn’t think he’d be good for video across Soledad O’Brien, they made him a horrible looking 3D character.

Cheesetastic!

And what’s more? I found another video of Devnull where he gets a $29.95 upgrade, the character doesn’t hide the fact that he is computer based.  The cheap upgrade doesn’t work so well, and Devnull get’s even more messed up looking.  Why does this interest me?  Mostly cause I’m a nerd.  When Snow Leopard came out, Leo went on and on about how it wasn’t a REAL upgrade to Leopard for the Mac.  Making the point that it wasn’t a totally new operating system, but more of an expansive service pack.  What Leo stressed the most though? How for $29.95, this was a fantastic value adding upgrade.  So if you’re a total nerd, it might be funny/interesting.  Probably just to me though…

So there you go.  Oh and Leo.  If Pure Media & Marketing doesn’t hire me, hows about you make a move? hehe

Time to run downtown to pay my rent and then get to class. Catch you later!

Unlucky 13

The weather was just so beautiful yesterday, and today actually, that Ryan and I decided to take a walk around downtown for a while before getting dinner.  After months of freezing temperatures, 60-70 degree weather was definitely welcome.  We made a few rounds around The District and then headed to Ingredient for some to-go dinner.

Our number was #13, Ryan wasn’t so comfortable with that.

The day before Friday the Thirteenth.  Oh well, I think it worked out just fine for us.  We went home to my apartment, watched an episode of 30 Rock and then yet another incredible episode of Damages.

What’s the Deal with Todd Stashwick?

Like seriously?  I had never seen him in anything and in the past year I’ve seen Todd Stashwick in…

  1. How I Met Your Mother
  2. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
  3. The Riches (my first Todd sighting)
  4. Law and Order
  5. Burn Notice (my second)
  6. Psych (very recently as an RX drug rep)
  7. Life (again, as an RX drug rep…)
  8. Supernatural (just today, as a vampire/werewolf/mummy)

Todd Stashwick, you must have the best agent in Hollywood.

Way to go!  And actually, you’re pretty darn good in everything you do. Not bad!

Gossip Girl Night

Micheal came over today for some Gossip Girl and to have dinner and wine.  The idea was Indian and Rieseling but due to the Indian place we like closing a couple of hours early, we were forced to enjoy Bangkok Gardens.  Thanks to Micheal for treating me to dinner, it was yum!

We met this awesome girl named Biaca Sammy Sam Samantha who was eating some Thai at the bar.  She works for a local company as a receptionist and was just about as cute as a button.

She seemed facinated with Micheal and I, of course she would be haha.  Of course, I was probably just as facinated with her.  I love meeting really fun and loving people like Samantha.  Yay!  She actually reminded me of the waitress Ryan and I had last Valentines in Kansas City at the amazing vegetarian restaurant, Eden’s Alley.

Shout out to Samantha!

After picking up the Thai and heading home, we started up the AppleTV and got our Gossip Girl on.  I love how we both agreed on every aspect of the show, the good and the bad.  We found ourselves making the same comments about outfits and plot point at the same time.  Awesome.

I have yoga in the morning with Max and then class and then yoga again and then lunch and then I’m meeting with my photography professor just to chit chat.  Looking forward to that, kinda.

So anyways, a really fun night, sorry I missed out on having a drink with you Karen!  Next time, I promise!  Oh and really looking forward to Saturday.

Night night!
